About the Author
Major Jim Stroup, USMC (Ret.)
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Jim
worked in various jobs ranging from tool
and die maker to common laborer, before
enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. After
promotion to sergeant, Jim was accepted
in a commisioning program and later
retired as a field grade officer after 21
years of service.
During and since his military career, Jim
has had the opportunity to work with,
observe, and advise numerous military and
civilian organizations from many countries
and cultures on five continents. He has
developed substantial expertise in
organizational leadership from a broad
range of perspectives and consults widely
and writes on this subject, as well as other
related organizational and management
topics.
Jim and his wife, Dr. Emel Stroup, a
clinical psychologist and cognitive
therapist, presently live and work in
Istanbul, Turkey.
